Math 2023
The Cookies Project, was the last project of math 10, while I was mostly absent for it, I cobbled together a rough outline of what a normal project should be;
Harvey The II is selling hardtack and crumpets to sailors who are traveling to the new world, due to the demand of hardtack and crumpets every batch will sell out entirely. It costs 1 shilling for the flour to make one batch of both crumpets and hardtack. It costs 2 shillings to buy the butter for crumpets and 3 shillings for the yeast for hardtack. In total it costs 4 shillings for hardtack, and 3 shillings for crumpet batches. Harvey II has 500 shillings. For every batch of hardtack or crumpets Harvey sells there is a 1 shilling tax to the king. There is a shortage and Flour is hard to come by so there is only 1000 shillings worth of flour left. How long can Harvey make a profit for? Reflection: Well, I cannot say for one that I would be able to use this kind of math on a day-to-day basis, but it does still give me a useful tool. Maximization has always been rough for me to comprehend, how to perfect a set of armor or stats in a video game for example. But with a mathematical take on it and a simple set of digits in desmos, I can have a better understanding of how to optimize. |
Rocket ProjectFor our final project for both Math and Physics we were tasked with making bottle rockets and competing with one another for a prize. During the 3 weeks of the project we all (in teams) built and tested our rockets under strict qualification guidelines. Said guidelines follow as such: the rocket must have stable fins, the rocket must have a hidden and deployable parachute, and the nose cone cannot be smaller than a bottle cap in diameter. To cut to the chase, we got dead last at a sturdy grounded 35 feet, compared to the 280~ feet of the number 1. the race to the ground was a close on though, with a competitor getting 38 feet, we pulled through and were the closest to the ground with the worst aerodynamics of the entire class. We won, just in the opposite direction. |
