For our final project for both Math and Physics we were tasked with making bottle rockets and competing with one another for a prize. During the 3 weeks of the project we all (in teams) built and tested our rockets under strict qualification guidelines. Said guidelines follow as such: the rocket must have stable fins, the rocket must have a hidden and deployable parachute, and the nose cone cannot be smaller than a bottle cap in diameter. To cut to the chase, we got dead last at a sturdy grounded 35 feet, compared to the 280~ feet of the number 1. the race to the ground was a close on though, with a competitor getting 38 feet, we pulled through and were the closest to the ground with the worst aerodynamics of the entire class. We won, just in the opposite direction. |
